Opportunities to Impact Eternity this Summer

Kids need Jesus! That has always been true, but the challenges this generation of boys and girls faces are almost unimaginable. This summer, CEF of North Jersey has the amazing opportunity of sharing the love of Jesus and the wonderful message of salvation with boys and girls in Paterson and across North Jersey. The best part is that YOU can be involved!

We have two great opportunities to serve the Lord, share God's love with kids, and enjoy fellowship with other Christians!

#1 - Paterson Summer Outreach

During the week of July 11-15, we'll be conducting 5-Day Club® in locations throughout Paterson. We'll share a Bible lesson, sing energetic songs, help kids hide God's Word in their hearts, teach them fundamental truths about prayer, and play fun games. We want them to know God's great love for them and His desire for them to believe in Jesus. Our prayer is that many will come to know the Lord Jesus as Savior through this Gospel-saturated week of ministry.

You can be a part of what God is doing! Last year 24 volunteers served in Paterson; we could use so many more. More volunteers mean we can reach more kids. CEF® provides high-quality materials and practical training. We have the locations arranged. We need volunteers who know and love Jesus and want to see kids come to do the same. God has gifted us all differently; has He given you a gift to share with the children this summer?  Volunteers might . . .

• Lead songs and help kids learn the motions.

• Pray for and with the kids.

• Patiently listen while children spell their names and give them nametags.

• Teach memory verses. (CEF makes it simple to do this.)

• Lead games, play with the kids, and cheer them on.

• Sit with a child and help him/her focus on the lesson.

• Review the message of salvation with a child who responds to the invitation and explain what it means to believe in Jesus.

• Smile at a shy child and encourage him/her to join in the fun.

• Help keep materials organized and ready for the next club.

Volunteers who have CEF Bible lesson training may teach the Bible lesson.

Volunteers make a difference in the lives of boys and girls by giving one week to mission outreach and still sleeping in their own beds at night. We'll meet at Grace Bible Church in North Haledon at about 8:00 AM for prayer, organizing materials, and planning, then head out in teams to conduct a morning club. We'll return to the church for a quick lunch, replenish supplies, then go back out for another club at a different location in the afternoon. We generally end the day by about 3:30 PM. We'd love to have you join us!  Volunteers must be growing Christians and at least 14 years old (12 and 13-year-olds are welcome to serve when accompanied by a responsible adult).

You are welcome to serve as an individual, or your church could bring a whole team of workers.

We'll be conducting the required training for this dynamic week of ministry on Saturday, June 11, from 8:30 AM to 3:30 PM at The Chapel in Lincoln Park. Won't you join us?  If you're on the fence about committing, this training will provide all the details you need to know, including a demonstration of a 5-Day Club

#2 - More 5-Day Clubs and VBS

We're working on expanding our 5-Day Club ministry beyond a week in Paterson this summer. To make that happen, we need at least two things:

A) We need teachers and helpers to work in the clubs. We already have some who are ready and willing! If you'd love to help with a 5-Day Club but perhaps are not available during our week of ministry in Paterson, this would be an excellent opportunity for you! Volunteer availability will determine the dates and times we offer clubs. Volunteers must attend the Summer Ministry Basic Training on June 11 or have previous CEF training.

B) We need host locations for the clubs. Would you be willing to open your backyard, deck, home, community room, or other space for a 5-Day Club? Club hosts provide a safe place for a 5-Day Club to meet, invite children, and provide a simple snack each day for five consecutive days. Clubs meet for 90-minutes in either the morning, afternoon, or evening. CEF screens 5-Day Club hosts as we do volunteers. CEF provides invitations to distribute. A team of volunteer workers will conduct the club; as a host, you are not required to lead the club. (Though you could!)

Contact the office by phone or email to learn more about hosting a club.

If you have questions or need more information about any of these opportunities, please contact us by phone (973.265.4447) or email.
